I was reading about Troy Regional Medical Center's data loss (http://www.troymessenger.com/2011/07/06/personal-data-stolen-from-hospital/). It appears data was taken from the hospital, and then used to file fraudulent ta returns. According to the article, "The hospital also is providing one year of free identity protection resources to the 880 patients affected."
My question: Are the thieves - who stole and are using the information - aware they are not allowed to use the information after a year?
