Actually, Gregory, you've basically just described to a T the Fusebox book
that Fusion Authority is putting out (except for the author). The title:
Fusebox: Methodology and Techniques. The authors: Steve Nelson and Craig
Girard, both major players in the methodology. (Steve is one of the
co-originators of the whole Fusebox idea, together with Gabe Roffman). Hal
Helms has a foreward and an appendix on Fusedocs in the book. It is a great
manual for developing an application in Fusebox and ColdFusion, and written
in clear language.

The book is not going to be a massive tome, but it will cover Fusebox
extensively: Less than 200 pages, and only $29.95 (for the print version),
with examples, code, screen shots, etc. Price on the ebook will be announced
shortly, but it shouldn't be more than $7.

So, I'm sure you're asking -- where can I get this book, and when? Well, as
of the end of September, the ebook will be available online from Fusion
Authority and Fusebox.org, and possibly at other sites. The print book will
be available in November. There will be LOTS of PR coming out about this in
the next two weeks, plus the ability to order it online.

As soon as the information is out, it will be posted on the CF-Talk,
CF-Community, and the Fusebox lists, and listed on the participating sites.

Ben, my challenge to thou art:

Develop a book in ColdFusion (either 4.5 or the upcoming 5 release) that is
entirely re-written using fusebox examples (or at least a similair
technique). Let's start off the beginners as the awesome developers that
they have the potential to be!

Imagine what could happen to some of the developers who learned fusebox from
the beginning? I picture ColdFusion having taken off a lot better than it
did, with more professional developers available. Code easier to understand
everywhere. In short, Programming Utopia!!! Well, I may exaggerate
somewhat, but you get the idea...

I'm training 5 people (all long time friends) on how to use ColdFusion. And
I'm training them in the Fusebox style so that as they're going through the
CFWACK book and the Allaire self-paced tutorial CD, they'll constantly ask
"Well WHY did they do it that way?" instead of simply accepting everything
everyone has told them thus far at face value and accepting it as a
standard.
