This is a difference between characters and pixels. The width attribute in
an HTML table can be specified in pixels, ie: width="35" or as a percentage
of the table width, ie: width="35%". In this example, if the width of the
longest value found in the HARDWARENAME column is more than 35 pixels, the
column will be expanded to fit the data. This is particularly true if there
is no natural place in the data for a "break" to be placed. After going
through all of this, what exactly is the problem? Is the data being
trunctated (unlikely)? Or is the data expanding more than you want it too.
CF doesn't really care about the ACCESS design length specification, other
than it will only pull in the data in the column as it exists.

Question for you.
After researching the underlying MS ACCESS database, I discovered that the
field length was pictured with a length of 23.
Even though Access will display the additional characters beyond 23, does
COLD FUSION perhaps STOP at the Access DESIGN length specification ?
Thanks
