I have...and I know steve has a really really stripped down version on
fusebox.org
lemme just say if you plan to integrate the allaire forums into your own
site be ready to really get your hands dirty. I had to gut it to get it to
integrate well into our site (and into fusebox). But I really do like how
it looks now

Like you said, there are a bazillion freebees. However, Allaire's Forums
happens to be one of them and it is now open source. Which means, you should
be able to study how they did it in ColdFusion.
BTW, has anyone converted Forums to the Fusebox standard?

Does anyone know of a good place online to read about building a threaded
discussion app.
I know there are a bazillion different freebees out there that I could just
download and use, but I'm a new programmer and am interested in doing this
for the learning experience.
