Michael,
   I've been trying to do the same for quite some time.  My data however, is
being filtered by Kavouras (DTN subsidary), so the data is never really
clean. I wrote a Perl script that successfully handles most METARs, but
there are still quite a few that do not follow whatever the standard du jour
happens to be, and do no parse correctly.
   I'd be interested to know what you've found.  Thanks.

Yep, I just found that one, but it uses HTTP data, and I wanted to use the
METAR data. However, this may be the best solution. Thanks for the effort, I
