Yes, the symbol unit was really the first on the market on the SPT1500
series, where it is built into the PalmPilot. I've been using that unit
as well as the SPT1700 (ruggedized) and SPT1740 (RF Internet enabled)
for the last year or so.

I've been waiting for the Visor add-in for some time.

Tell me, does this Symbol addin have a seperate battery or does it use
the VISOR batteries??? The PSC unit has it's own battery supply that
charges via the PSC cradle so as to not wearout / destroy the battery
life of the VISOR itself. The SPT1500 batteries are exhausted after
about 250 scans or so (YMMV) so rechargeables are a must for that unit.

Symbol makes great products tho...

btw, symbol just released the SPT1733, which is a ruggedized palmpilot
with built in scanner and builtin Novatels CDPD (Cellular Digital
Packet Data) modem with real-time data transmission at speeds up to
19.2 Kbps. It does cost $2k and you have to pay for the bytes sent
and received via wireless.
