It is not really a fault with Java technology at all.
Rather it is a fault with the implementations MSIE uses.
Applets can still be written to work around issues with
other browsers.. most just dont write them or test them
but with a couple of very specific JVM implmentations..
Think of it as shoddy JVM implmentation and shoddy coding
all combined to make for a terrible end user experience.
