Thanks everyone for your insight.

my real interest lies in XML/XSL. I think parsing out
data and sending it to wherever it needs to go in
whatever format you want is damn sexy. Unfortunately,
I cannot find anyone who is actually doing this.

I was looking at PHP as I saw it as less of a blow to
the head than JSP, seeing as I do not have a true CS
background. However, it cannot hurt to invest in a
book and start checking it out.

So, I think I will be looking into JSP, as CF is
migrating that direction anyways and it does seem to
be the most demanded/highest paying language nowadays.
I also don't see it going anywhere as it has been
adapted by many large companies and is cross-platform.

As for ASP/VB, I just don't trust m$oft's new .NET
initative. I read today that Office XP is already past
BETA and into the Gold Release. Many people think
m$oft is rushing it out just to try and get a jump on
the move to web-based software to beat out Sun and
Oracle. That is a situation I would rather not get
involved in. I would rather tie myself to Macromedia
than m$soft.

Thanks again everyone for your insight.

* Steve N. I actually did use to work quite a lot with
graphics and Flash and found it quite fun, but my jobs
have migrated me more towards coding. I do try to play
with Flash on the side still, but the usability, speed
issues as well as the proprietary nature of it still
make me think twice about investing too much time
learning it.
