I would suggest adding an additional layer of security by incorporating
Folder or directory security so that the login page cannot even be accessed
without a valid username and password.

You can go into the registry and set the CF admin not to use a password.
When you get into the admin w/o a password, you can then set a new one.
Sorry, I don't know exactly where in the registry that is.
