I think that the fact that a Custom Tag is, by definition, a separate page
is its great advantage!  That's why it's not only possible, but trivial, for
us to share them around, and that's the original basis for the CF community.

When you can use UDFs, you end up defining a function in your code.  If you
hear that someone needs something similar, you think, well sure - I could
cut and paste the code out and send it to them, or separate out the UDF inot
a separate file and post that somewhere.  But a CustomTag is ALREADY
tailor-made for archiving and distributing.

Now I know that other language communities distribute sets of UDFs as
libraries, etc, and I haven't yet examined CF5 to see whether this is going
to be do-able, but I still maintain that the very nature of CustomTags
encourages distribution and sharing.
