hmmm sounds like there's still something wrong with your mapping. As a test
stick it in an established cf folder (ie I have a cf test folder that is
generally a bunch of garbage/test pages/things sent to me etc). It is
mapped and I can open any cfm page in the folder. Put the wireframe in a
working cf folder and open it from there.
That'll let you start working until you find out what is wrong with the
mapping....

Sorry guys i'm still struggling.

Janine i took your advice i'm using the movies.wir in the wireframedata
folder
instead of using a blank one..

>If
>you have put the wireframe app in a directory called "wireframe", directly
>under your web-server root, then your filesystemroot should be set to:
>"#request.app.documentRoot##request.os.delimiter#wireframe">

I have

>Check that you have:
>request.app.cfroot="/wireframe"
>and
>request.app.webroot="/wireframe"

i have that as well

I put the debugging info code in as lee suggested however i dont get that
far,

i get a template not found error:

If you wish to use an absolute template path ...etc

The only thing i'm not sure of is if i am under the web root, we have an
intranet here

at http://development which is really d:\intranet

Any more suggestions? The error message suggests i need a mapping in the
coldfusion administrator

Instead of starting with a blank .wir why don't you copy lee's, rename it
and then edit it according to your needs? I found this was the
quickest/easiest way to do it. This is what I did:
1. I sketched out how I wanted my wireframe to look- all the links/pages
needed.
2. I printed out a copy of lee's .wir from notepad.
3. I copied and pasted Lee's .wir with a new name.
4. I spent a few minutes understanding the rythym of the document. (once
you really look at it you notice how easy it is- just make sure you use no
carriage breaks/only one space after a period when typing. It's the bad
habits of mine that really messed me up at first)
5. I edited/cut his code up until I had what I needed. After doing it once
you'll be able to easily start with a blank sheet and add all that you need.

I cut a small piece of his code and pasted it below- the brackets [] show
that it is a 'page'- this example is the home page. Then you type in the
responsibilities of that page.
The = sign will show that there is a "link". The part on the left of the =
is what is shown on the Home page. The info on the right of the = is the
page that it will link to. You then continue adding []-pages and = links
So with this example you have a link to "Add an Incident" and "View a
particular Incident"

[Home]
Responsibilities=I show a list of all Incidents currently in the main
Incidents table, and provide links to View, Edit and Delete incidents.
Add an Incident (shown if authorised) = Add Incident Form
View a particular Incident = View Incident

I hope this helps. Once you use this your boss will want you to use it each
and every time.

Lee,
thanks for the tips, i think i'm getting there. I have created a text file
called kola.wir
in the wireframedatadirectory but i still get the same message..

Umm this may be stupid question but am i supposed to put something in
kola.wir as at the moment
it is blank.

Also the instructions in the text file read:

<!--- Root of THIS app in filesystem --->
<CFSET
request.app.filesystemroot="#request.app.documentRoot##request.os.delimiter#
cfdocs/wireframe210">

instead of cfdocs/wireframe210 in the above example i simply have /wireframe
which is the mapping i put into the Administrator to point to the wireframe
directory is that right?
I cant seem to get the movies example to work either.

Your help is appreciated, my boss has asked me to build a site with the
specification just jotted down on a piece of paper in bullet points, it
would be extremely useful if i could elicite a more detailed spec from him
and demonstrate this app to him at the same time so we could use it with
clients.

Hi Kola,

The WireFrames app is indeed need of a better interface for creating a brand
new wireframe.

Until this better interface is built, here is what you need to do:
- create a blank text file called xyz.wir, where "xyz" is the name you want
to give your app;
- put xyz.wir in the wireframedata directory;
- point your browser to
http://myserver/wireframe/index.cfm?wireframename=xyz

That's all you should need to do. Of ourse, you need to substitue your own
server name, and use the correct path to the wireframe application.

Hope that helps,
let me know if you have any problems,

Lee Bjork Borkman
