I have been following the discussions back and forth
regarding a couple of issues related to frames and
program flow. My issue concerns an application we are
building that uses fusebox and frames. The app is a
case tracking system that uses a left menu with links
that are conditional (ie visible and/or active)
depending on which segment the user has completed.
My problem is I need to refresh the left menu when a
user has completed/updated a segment in order to pass
in variables to control the display of menu items (ie
the next segment/menu link is now visible). The
client wants each screen to load as quickly as
possible (less than a second), and it seems that by
refreshing the entire frameset each time the user goes
back to the index is going to add to the page build
time. Does anyone have any suggestions and/or best
practices to use in a case like this?
PS: I should note that the entire app cannot be
wrapped in a frameset as the user is first sent to a
main menu page that is not in a frame (at least not
yet, this is a client request, not our wish, we may be
able to get away with adding one later).
