I have also found Pure JavaScript by R. Allen Wyke, Jason D. Gilliam,
and Charlton Ting to be extremely useful. It's published by SAMS. My
copy is getting rather ragged from constant use.

O'Reilly's "JavaScript, The Definitive Guide" is a favorite reference
out
there. Their "DHTML, A DefinitiveGuide" is excellent as well. I
don't know
about other people's experience, but I am a
copy/paste/adjust-for-my-page
JavaScript learner. Same for my HTML education-- I did a lot of "view
source"
in my early days, and I have gotten far with that.
Also, as you will undoubtedly have questions, you may want to join
[EMAIL PROTECTED] to get them answered. It's a good list.
Have fun!
