the most easy form is with url scope.
index.cfm?fusionaction=ShowUser&UserID=123
so, in a template try
url.fusionaction
url.UserID

Err, off the top of my head, I think that's CGI.query_string. Turn on
debugging, and have a look. That's the only way to do it. I can never
remember all of them properly. ;-)
