Try Fusion PC. I used a while back with great results. I even installed
MacOS from the original disk.

http://www.emulators.com/download.htm and find the fusion pc download link.

Okay, I am not a Mac person. Haven't been, since 1987 or so. I don't know
much of ANYTHING about them.

I'd like to be able to emulate a Mac on my PC, for the sole purpose of
testing Mac-based browsers, without having to go through the expense of
buying a whole different machine.

I've looked at http://www.Emulators.com, and even downloaded a trial version
of their software. If anyone has seen (or preferrably is actually USING) a
different Mac emulator on their PC, could you let me know?

Also, what I don't know is the difference between Mac "classic", Mac "II",
and Mac "Quadra", nor do I understand how the iMac fits into the whole thing
(iMac is not listed as an option in their SoftMac application). And then
there's the "PowerPC" thing, too!

Can anyone do a "timeline" type comparison for me, similar to what one might
do with the x86 line? (i.e. the 286 came before the 386, the 486 came after
the 386, and the Pentium line came after the 486. The Pentium line consists
of various 'flavors' like Pro, MMX, II, III, and now 4... etc. etc.)

OR, point me to a website or two to help me get up to speed on the mac
world. This will help me determine whether the emulator I want will do what
I need.

I am such a total newbie geek on this. Feels like my first PC days, when I
accidentally deleted IO.SYS and had to learn for the first time how to
reinstall an OS... oh Joy.

Thanks in advance,
