I recall that the version of Verity shipped up to CF4.5 does not like PDFs created
with Acrobat 4.0 - the first time you index the collection, everything works fine, but
whenever you re-index the collection you get an error in the log files referring to
the PDF filter (from memory, it mentions something about being thread safe...or not).
After the re-index, you can still search against other file types in that collection,
just not the PDFs.

I think the workaround is to create all your PDFs in Acrobat 3.0 (not sure if the
option to create Acrobat 3.0 compatible files in Acrobat 4.0 would work) or upgrade to
CF5.

Try searching this list's archive or allaire forums if you need more info.

Subject: PDF files and Verity Search in Coldfusion 4.5
Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

Has anyone known why the PDF files not appear on the verity search result even though
I did:

                 Using the following tag to reindex the colection:
                 <CFINDEX COLLECTION="PDF_collection"
                 ACTION="UPDATE"
                 TYPE="Path"
                 KEY="C:\webpages\PDF"
                 EXTENSIONS=".htm, .html, .cfm, .cfml, .pdf"
                 URLPATH="http://www.matrixgroup.net";
                 RECURSE="Yes">

                 I opened the collection PDF_collection, then go to the subdirectory
/file/parts, open one of the files, I saw the PDF fileds recorded but the search
                 result did not return the PDF as the result no mater what my criteria
is.

                 Besides, all the htm, html, cfm files work properly.

                 If you have any clue, or have the way to solve it, please give me a
respond. I appreciate it.
