Um, did you read the message you just replied to?  You are far more likely to
get responses on the [EMAIL PROTECTED] list.  That said, I'll cross-post:

I use an outside service called Atomz.com.  They spider your site and store
all searches on their servers.  The actual search is also performed on their
servers, too.  That may sound sketchy, but it is crazy fast.  Really really
fast, and very reliable.

I use the XML results and send the search requests and parse the results all
server-side, so the user never sees that I am doing the search off-site-- it
all looks seamless to them.  Here's my search page:
