Are you cfoutput'ing a query anywhere? If you have conditional code within your <cfoutput query=""></cfoutput>, it will show a bunch of whitespace. You can get around this by using <cfloop query=""></cfloop>.
Also be sure to search the macromedia forums if you haven't done so, lots of people discussing the issue in there.
