Mike, you're definitely not nuts and such a solution would be a major, major improvement from a search engine standpoint. The current search-engine safe solutions, of which there is the one public solution spearheaded by Erik V. and several other private solutions that essentially accomplish the same thing, inflict a S.E. ranking cost by their URL-based "safeness"
