Tom, My dsp files contain HTML all the time. They don't, however, contain HTML that is part of the structure of the Web site, that stuff goes in the layout. The HTML that I may have in a dsp file would perhaps be P tags around a paragraph of text, or IMG or HREF tags. Sometimes, depending on the data it may be TABLE tags that govern the layout of the data. Again, all of this is going on within the structure (layout) of the Web site.
Look at the home page of http://bjork.net/ . Very simple layout--the layout is basically all of the black and the establishment of the yellow/orange space that holds content. The part inside of that yellow/orange space does contain some HTML tags, marking up the text that's in there. However, it doesnt affect the layout. Now, there may be more to the layout on that left sidebar, and that's where it can get complicated, but those are the basics.
