Do you actually really need to?? i) The page is static. ii) It should be the first thing that a user sees when they enter the site. iii) At a guess the content is not exactly mind blowing ie. welcome to our site! I don't think I, as a user would be terribly upset to be missing the home page from the search when a) it would probably never figure in my search results and b) would only be annoying as I'll have already seen it! If any of the above are not true then the content is probably not in the right place or its not really static. Hope that helps.
