BTW, everyone.  Please do not buy the Fusebox book.

Although I do use fusebox and find fusebox very useful, the book is very much crap.  It is unorganized, badly written.  Essentially it is written the way I see some programmers code their applications (spaghetti code).

The information available at www.fusebox.org covers everything that is in the book, but better organized.

I appreciate all the replies.. (keep em coming)

I ve already read up on a lot of Fusebox... spent a lot of time reading Hal Helm s past newsletters... I really like the concept.

I guess I was mainly concerned about how much time I should spend practicing if it wasn t used a lot. Looks like I ll try a few apps out with fusebox and fusedocs. It s always exciting to screw with new stuff....

Thanks again...

Oh, Nathan, I d/led your zip files and I ll look through them tonight... Thanks!

I like a lot of the basic concepts of Fusebox, but I found that it was very limited for some of the things I needed to do. I use my own flavor, similar to Terry's - several small, reusable modules/plug-ins with their own specific function. I have also found that the real secret to writing good code that other people can work with is to comment everything. And make your comments very descriptive so anybody can understand them, especially yourself. I hate it when I review old code THAT I WROTE  and can't figure out what I was talking about.

I haven't checked out FB3 yet. It sounds like they made significant improvements. Ditching the custom tags was a definite plus, and with the new Steering Committee, they should be able to make some real progress. Eventually someone will create an acceptable "standard practice" for CF programming, and Fusebox seems to be on a good track. For now, use whatever you feel most comfortable with.

Would anyone mind giving me their impression of fusebox?  I am interested in using this format for programming my CF apps, but I want to know how widely accepted or used this technique is.

TIA,

Steve Veen.....
