I've just one problem with your patch. The "prebuilt" archive come with
Crypt::SSLeay, not IO::Socket::SSL. This means it will drop the SSL
support for the "prebuilt" users.
I suggest to contrinue to use Crypt::SSLeay as a second class option and
this time
with a warning and start a massive rebuilt of the prebuilt packages.
