Your example has several little items that needed to be corrected.
Try this:
var State = ToUpper(Field("FieldNameHere"))
//var State = "AL" // this is to manually test if your statement is true
//var State = "NE" // this is to manually test if your statement is
false
if (State == ("AL" || "AK" || "AS" || "AZ" || "AR" || "CA"))
return State;
else
return "<FONT COLOR='red'>" + State + "</FONT>";
... and check the "Return string as tagged text" box so the font
color will work.
