Hello FusionPro Users, An update for FusionPro 5.0 - version 5.0P1b - has just been released.
This version is now available for your immediate download and is a free patch release for every FusionPro 5.0 Designer, Desktop, Direct, and Server customer. Version 5.0P1b is the latest release of FusionPro since the 5.0P1a version which was released on October 18th, 2007, when the FusionPro 5.0 product was launched. This release contains a number of enhancements and fixes to the FusionPro products which are detailed below in the "Release Notes" section of this post. Printable recommends that every FusionPro 5.0P1a customer download and install this update. ------------------------------------------------------ Obtaining FusionPro Desktop 5.0P1b ------------------------------------------------------ This release can be downloaded from our website at the following addresses. Mac OS X: http://www.printable.com/downloads/FusionPro/OSX/ Windows: http://www.printable.com/downloads/FusionPro/Win32/ ------------------------------------------------------ Installation Instructions: ------------------------------------------------------ To install FusionPro Desktop 5.0P1b, please follow these steps: 1) Close out of Adobe Acrobat, InDesign, and QuarkXPress if they are currently running 2) Uninstall your current version of FusionPro Desktop 5.0. On Windows, this can be done from Add/Remove Programs. On Mac, there is an "Uninstall FusionPro" icon in the Printable installation folder to uninstall the product. 3) Once installation is complete, Launch the 5.0P1b installer application. 4) Use your current 5.0 serial number when asked for one during installation. 5) After installation, open Adobe Acrobat and your should see the FusionPro menu. This indicates that the installation was successful. 6) If you use our barcode fonts in your VDP templates, run a "Load Fonts" process by going to FusionPro -> Advanced -> Load Fonts If you run into any problems during installation, please contact FusionPro support by either emailing [EMAIL PROTECTED] or calling 1.800.220.1727 and selecting option "2". ------------------------------------------------------ Release Notes for 5.0P1b ------------------------------------------------------ The following release notes for 5.0P1b are changes made in the FusionPro products since the last official release - 5.0P1a. ---------------- --Enhancements-- ---------------- - PDF Partial transparency detection. Partial transparency - an area of the artwork that is between 0 and 100% transparent - in any PDF used in a FusionPro composition, including the PDF background of the template and any variable PDF images, will trigger a warning message to the composition message log when users compose to any PostScript-based output format (every output format except PDF and VDX). When this message is encountered, VDP template designers may chose to use tools such as Adobe Acrobat's built-in transparency flattening capability to ensure their print output matches their onscreen preview. - FusionPro Server composition speed improvement and improved memory usage allows select jobs to compose faster as well as larger record-set compositions. - Crop marks and imposition slug are now colored as the SPOT color "registration" - Slug (page info option in composition output) change. The file name field at the bottom of a page (sheet) is changed to the output file name. Note that the imposition job slug info will replace the file name field. -------------------- --Issues Addressed-- -------------------- - Drop-shadows were being placed on incorrect records in stacked, imposed output. This issue has been addressed. - Drop Shadow DPI setting of 150 was not honored correctly in composition on FusionPro Direct and Server. Issue now resolved.
