Are you returning a font tag, such as <f name="dorchester script">? If so, you should first look in the composition log file for any warning messages about an unrecognized font. If you see such a message, the next thing to do is to make sure that you're using the proper font family name in the <f> tag. The easiest way to do this is to make a new Formatted Text Resource (FusionPro -> Data Definition -> Input Options -> Edit Resources -> Add, change the type in the drop-down list to Formatted Text, then click Edit), enter some text and put it in the desired font in the editor, close the editor, then click "View Source". This will show you the markup to generate the text, including the <f> tag with the proper font family name.
