Hi Wade, When using FusionPro Direct, the initial composition must be invoked from FusionPro Desktop or Designer in Adobe Acrobat. After the job has been submitted to the FusionPro Direct Scheduler, it can be re-submitted with different parameters from the FusionPro Direct Monitor application. The main advantage of Direct over Desktop is that jobs can be composed on multiple remote Target machines, from multiple Client machines, without tying up Acrobat during composition. It's a fully scalable solution which requires no programming to set up.
However, there is no "hot folder" functionality in Direct; jobs must still be submitted manually via Desktop/Designer or the Monitor application. Full automation of job submission via the command-line or DL Queue, and modification of the layout outside of Acrobat, in the context of a custom application, is only available with the full FusionPro Server product.
