Apologies for the length.

I have been using FusionPro 4 since its release and have just upgraded to version 5. There are several things that have been buggy since the 4 release (or earlier) and I was hoping for them to be resolved in the new version 5 release. Alas, they are not. I know there is a planned February Mac release and maybe some of these things could be looked at in the meantime.

I am using FusionPro 5.0P1c
Acrobat 7.0.9
Intel MacBookPro
Leopard 10.5.1 (I realize this is not supported, but all of the following except numbers 07 and 08 were issues before I switched from Tiger).

01. When preview is turned on, doing ANYTHING causes the ProdActivate.app to open and close. Want to nudge a box 5 times to the right? You have to wait for that app to open and close inbetween each nudge. Tab between two fields? Wait again.

02. When creating a new blank text rule, the 'Rule Editor - Text' window is opened and the focus goes to the 'Rule Name' field to enter a name, however once the Building Blocks drawer slides out, focus is lost (nothing has focus), requiring clicking in the field again to do anything.

03. When editing a rule, if you highlight text and begin typing it replaces the highlighted text (correct), however if you highlight text and then type using the number pad, the new text is appended to the right of the highlighted text (incorrect).

04. When typing values in the Text Edit dialog box, tabbing to the next field almost never highlights that field for immediate input (it does sometimes). Instead you have to manually highlight the old value and type over it or shift-tab back a field and then tab into the field a second time (this usually works, but not always).

05. When entering a rotation angle in the Text Edit dialog box you have to tab twice to leave the field.

06. When opening a pdf, I view the window maximized by default. If I then start the FusionPro wizard or select a FusionPro object from an already started pdf, the window resizes itself with the bottom off the screen. Clicking the maximize button resizes it back to the correct size.

The following are bugs I have noticed since switching to Leopard (I realize this is not officially supported) Both of these problems were in version 4 and persist in version 5.

07. When creating a new FPImposer file everything seems to work fine except the Step and Repeat options. If you try to change the first drop menu to anything other than 'None' it does not stick. None of the other drop menus can be set without the first one being set to something other than 'None'.

08. When editing a rule the auto-complete popup causes type input to stop working. For example, if I type 'Cur' I get the popup that lets me select CurrentRecordNumber, however once that popup occurs I can no longer type. I have to close the window and reopen it to type again.

And finally, my wishlist for new features.

09. Better font notification for missing fonts. If I use a font, then later open that document without that font loaded there is no notification. If I compose the document I get a message at that point (unlesss I have done any editting in the text box, then the default font becomes permanent). But if I collect the document for upload to FusionPro Server, there is never a notification. Also, the font defaults to Helvetica, but there is no indication as to what it is SUPPOSED to be. It would be nice if you could highlight the text and the font menu would read 'Helvetica (Futura Bold)' where Futura Bold is the font not loaded.

10. Auto rule generation from the Variable Text Editor window. For example, I type a paragraph of text that includes the FIRSTNAME variable in the text area. The customer wants the variable in title case. It would be nice if I could highlight that variable (or any text for that matter) and right-click to get a popup list of basic string functions to apply. I would select ToTitleCase(str) and a rule would be automatically created and the variable swapped out for the rule in the Variable Text Editor window. This would be handy for the case functions, as well as the trim function. With input it could also be used for almost all of the string functions, similar to how the rules wizard works. For example I highlight some text, right-click and select Right(str, count). The string is already defined by what I have highlighted, a popup window prompts me for a count and the rule is generated.

Hopefully I have explained all of the examples clearly, if not please let me know and I can detail them further. Or if there is a workaround for any of these issues I would love to hear it. Thanks.
