Hello,

I have done all of our VDP jobs on the Creo rip and what I have found to
be the fastest for the rip is the Multi-File VPS output. In the compose
output options choose Multi-Fils VPS for the Output Format. Then create a
folder for the multiple files that get output by using the browse button
next to the Output File:.. Compose your file, copy the folder continaing
many files over a network to the Creo (or burn a disk and take it to the
rip - physically), then go to the rip manager software import button at
the top, find the folder that you copied over to the Creo, and choose the
file with the extension .vps

One other item I have noticed is that if the Output tab & the Compose tab
dialogue does not match each other, make sure they do... Meaning in both
tab areas need to match Milti-File VPS.... Sometimes the Output tab has
PDF for the output? Maybe a little bug? Or am I missing something here
about why there are two areas to choose for the type of output?

The .vps file has reference to the other many files that get output for
the rip to reference and if all of the output elements are not residing at
the Creo rip the job will fail. The rip then only processes the static
elements once for all pages that print. Making only the variable info rip
for each record - Thus turning faster rip times!

I also agree with Carols Quiroga's warning....WARNING!! If you're going to
impose your files to run multiple up, be careful because the Creo is
messing up any of the graphics in the imposed output. You'll notice the
graphics get chopped in half or just drop out all
together. Be careful!!!

As I have also seen even non variable images getting cut off in strage
ways. Probably the RIp's issue, as it is correct in FP and Acrobat
previews and PDF output.

I have also noticed that if you have double sided VDP, the Rip cannot
process it if the rip is imposing the job, so only use FPImposer to make
any double sided VDP to print at the Creo. Use the same Multi-File VPS
output but also make use of the imposition from FPimposer in the compose
dialogue box Imposition tab (of course the imposition must be available
before output).

The longest wait for the first print was about 10 minutes. Have been using
FP Desktop 4.2P1D since Sept 07 on Mac with OSX.

Hope this helps. I have not used PPML or VIPP - Maybe it would be faster?
- Personally I would like to have some light shed on the difference
between the three types of output and the benefits of each or the cons of
each. Is it just different types of output for different types of
manufactured rips and how those rips process the information being given?
