A few things: First, the logic to superscript all the ordinals (st, ns,
rd, th) can be done in a single call, with the following regular
expression:
SupVariable = SupVariable.replace(
/(\d)(st|nd|rd|th)\b/gi,
"$1<superscript>$2</superscript>");
Regarding the issue with the first word in smallcaps style following
some superscript text losing its uppercase letters, as far as I can
tell, that's due to a subtle bug in FusionPro's tag parsing logic. I
have entered a case about this. However, you can work around it by
modifying the replacement like so:
SupVariable = SupVariable.replace(
/(\d)(st|nd|rd|th)\b/gi,
"</smallcap>$1<uppercase><superscript>$2" +
"</superscript></uppercase><smallcap>");
Note that this also eliminates issues with further reducing letters that
have already been "small capped" for the superscript style.
As for how the superscripted text lines up with other text, that's
controlled by the Global Paragraph Settings. From the Text Editor,
click Paragraph, then click "Global Settings," and adjust the
superscript ratio and offset. Reasonable values would be 50 percent
ratio and 70 percent offset, but you might have to experiment to get
exactly the look you want.
