No apologies necessary. Asking questions and sharing knowledge is what this forum is for, so everyone can learn more. Including more information, including the version of the software you're running, is just a way to help others help you more efficiently. And thanks for answering questions too!

I am running FusionPro 3.1P1e on Windows XP Home alongside Quark XPress 6
and Adobe Creative Suite 3 (Acrobat 8)

I wasn't aware that 3.1 even worked with Acrobat 8. You will probably see better results from a newer version.

Sounds like I'm a little behind on version. Is there additional cost
involved in upgrading, or would this be a question better directed toward
a sales representative somewhere?

Yes, there is a cost to upgrade, however, since you're on such an old version, you can skip a few generations and upgrade directly to FusionPro 5.1. Please contact Sales for more information.

As to your original question, if you don't have access to the NullResource object, you can either ignore the warnings in the log file, and FusionPro will just put nothing there in the output, or you can just make a "dummy" resource which references a blank graphic (say, a one-pixel transparent GIF), and return that instead of NullResource from your rules.

Also, depending on the requirements for your job, you might want to do something like put up a "no picture available" placeholder for the image. Or, you might want to use the FusionPro.Composition.SetBodyPageUsage function in your OnRecordStart rule in order to suppress pages without certain content.
