Hello,

I've been getting a message during my compositions for the past 18 months
that no one seems to want to answer (even posted it in March of 2007 on
this forum) and that really hasn't bothered me until now since FP Server
now crashes when I get it. Whenever I place a stack quantity other than
"infinite" on the imposition and give the FusionPro composition a "chunk"
value, compose on FusioPro Server, I would get the message...
"The number of records requested in a chunk is not compatible with the
imposition setting. The number of records in a chunk has been adjusted."

I can understand the need for FP to adjust the very last batch since it
may not be a full "chunk", but if I program the imposition to stack 2-up
for 500 sheets, and I program FP Server composition to batch in "chunks"
of 1000 records - what part of that is incompatible. Even in 3rd grade
1000 divided by 2 is normally 500.

As I said, up to now it hasn't bothered me since the output has always
been correct and I just figured that this was a result of what I refer to
as "computer alzheimer's errors" where the the coding is correct but the
program doesn't really know what's going on so it reports an error and
then does what it's told to anyway. However, now when I place the chunk
value in FP composition and place ANY value other than infinite in the FP
imposer stack value, the program reports the same error then crashes
stating that FusionPro has encountered a "Fatal Error".

If I remove the chunk value within FusionPro Server but don't change the
imposition program, it works. If I change the imposition value to infinite
stacked, and leave the chunk value within the FP Server composition to
batch at 1000, it works. Neither of these methods however produce the
correct sequence and stack order that I need. If I compose everything as
originally coded with chunks every 1000 and imposition stacks of 500 on my
desktop machine, it works. It sometimes takes over night to compose, but
it works and the output is correct.

When I compose data files that sometimes reach into the upper 100,000s I
really don't want to compile one large file for print. Nor do I want to do
this on my desktop machine. I want to compose several files batched in
1000 or so records - on FusionPro Server.

I'm a bit confused to this, as well as slightly miffed, and wonder if
anyone else is having such a problem with these errors as well. Or better
yet, if anyone else has had these errors in the past and found a way to
fix it.

I am using 4.2P1d for both desktop and server but had these problems since
an earlier version 4 level. My desktop runs under Windows XP, and server
runs on Windows 2003 Server.

Thanks,

David Sweet
