Unfortunately, tracking is one of those features of typography that
is not standardized between various computerized text layout
engines. (And tracking and kerning are often confused.) See:

Therefore, we can't give you an exact formula for translating tracking
values between QuarkXPress and FusionPro because they both calculate
tracking differently, and I don't have access to Quark's internal
tracking algorithm. Nor do we have access to Adobe's tracking
algorithm for InDesign. The only thing we could do to come up with an
approximate translation is to fiddle with the settings in both
applications, but you should be be able to do that yourself.
If you want all of the text in your FusionPro output to look exactly
the same in terms of typographical details such as tracking, word
spacing, and leading, then my recommendation is to export all the
text frames from your QuarkXPress or InDesign template as variable
and let FusionPro compose everything.
The issue could also be related to the font. Are you using an Adobe version or
the Mac system version of the font? Take a look at the "Fonts.err" log file
located in the "Library : Preferences : Printable : FusionPro : Fonts"
folder to see what is being reported about the font.

Subject: [fusionpro] Kerning in Fusion Pro 5.1 Mac
I am having an issue with kerning in 5.1 with Helvetica Condensed Light. My
Quark file looks correct that I have output from, but for some reason once I
have it in Acrobat and have the fields populated, the Helvetica Condensed Light
has a much greater amount of spacing between the letters than it should. The
Quark document has a value of 0 for kerning, and I have tried both checking and
unchecking the kerning box in FusionPro to no avail.
Any suggestions on what might be causing this inconsistency or how I might fix
it?
