Here is the method I use in a case like yours.
With the manage pages function I would set the 3 back pages to UNUSED
and name them to match the version data. In your case the pages would
be named mpc, npc, ipc.
Then use this code in an on record start rule:
FusionPro.Composition.SetBodyPageUsage(Field("version"), true)
This will compose the first page for all records and use the correct
back page based on the version from the data file.

I have a postcard with a common front page and 3 back pages that I want
to switch out with a rule.
Here is the rule I have written:

The rule partially works.
The first if is what seems to be failing. If the data says 'mpc' than
the 'ELSE' page 'ipc' is returned.
Is this the right approach to this problem?
