Kim, Try this in your database field entry. I used a simple two column data file with "SalesPerson and "TextOut" as my fields like this.
SalesPerson TextOut John Smith This is the test that <variable name="SalesPerson"> wants to have interactive. Jane Smith This is the test that <variable name="SalesPerson"> wants to have interactive. Joe Smith This is the test that <variable name="SalesPerson"> wants to have interactive. John Doe This is the test that <variable name="SalesPerson"> wants to have interactive. Jane Doe This is the test that <variable name="SalesPerson"> wants to have interactive. Then I defined the database file I FusionPro like you did with "treat field values as tagged text" within a flat file. The simply choosing the field "TextOut" in the text editor as what I want displayed, the variable named "SalesPerson" was inserted. The tag-value simply puts a space after the variable that you defined as <variable name="SalesPerson"> Hope this helps. Good Luck. --- David A. I have a variable field that is a paragraph of text. Within that paragraph I'd like to insert another variable field. So, it would be a couple of sentences in a field like so: blah blah blah blah, <<salesperson>>. blah blah. I tried putting <<salesperson>> within the data field and then checking 'treat field values as tagged text" when I chose my database. I also tried creating a rule to return my field with "treat returned strings as tagged text" checked. I get the paragraph, but where the <<salesperson>> should be inserted, it's just blank and continues on with the paragraph.
