Hello everyone, Printable is pleased to announce the immediate availability of FusionPro VDP software version 5.8 for Windows!
FusionPro 5.8 for Windows features the new capability of Unicode VDP typesetting support. With this exciting new feature, FusionPro now supports the typesetting of variable text in the following 8 languages: Chinese Japanese Korean Russian Finnish Polish Turkish Greek This is in addition to the languages which had previously been supported (the Latin-1 languages) which includes EFIGS (English, French, Italian, German, Spanish), Portuguese, Dutch, Danish, Swedish, and Norwegian among others. FusionPro 5.8 is currently available for the Windows OS only. The Mac version of FusionPro 5.8 is expected to ship in mid August. Stay tuned to this user forum for updates on the 5.8 Mac release. FusionPro Desktop 5.8 is a complementary upgrade to all FusionPro Desktop 5.0 and 5.1 customers. Users of earlier versions of FusionPro Desktop (versions 3.0 through 4.2) can purchase an upgrade to version 5.8 for an upgrade price (currently $299) by visiting: https://fusionpro.printable.com/store/ FusionPro 5.8 for Windows can be downloaded from the Printable website at: http://www.printable.com/downloads/fusionpro -------------------------------------------------- FusionPro 5.8 Release Notes -------------------------------------------------- For detailed information about the FusionPro 5.8 release including new features and known issues, please view the FusionPro 5.8 release notes at: http://files.printable.com/release_notes/fp_v5.8_releaseNotes.pdf -------------------------------------------------- Installing FusionPro 5.8 -------------------------------------------------- To install FusionPro 5.8 for Windows, please follow these steps: 1) Close Adobe Acrobat, InDesign, and QuarkXPress if they are currently running 2) Uninstall your current version of FusionPro. 3) Once the un-install process is complete, launch the 5.8 installer program. 4) Use your current 5.0/5.1 serial number when prompted during installation. 5) After installation, open Adobe Acrobat and verify that the "FusionPro" menu is visible. This indicates that the installation process was successful. 6) If you use the FusionPro barcode fonts in your VDP templates, run a "Load Fonts" process by going to FusionPro -> Advanced -> Load Fonts If you experience any problems during installation, please contact FusionPro support at [EMAIL PROTECTED] -------------------------------------------------- FusionPro 5.8 Template Support in FusionPro Web -------------------------------------------------- FusionPro 5.8 templates are supported in the FusionPro Web product. FusionPro Web customers can therefore upgrade to the FusionPro 5.8 immediately. It is important to note that FusionPro Web 6.5 - the latest version of FusionPro Web - fully supports Unicode variable text input for VDP and versioned items. However, a FusionPro 5.8 template (or greater) is required for the proper typesetting of that template with the Unicode text. If you are a FusionPro Web customer and do not have a FusionPro 5.0/5.1 serial number (which is required for installation of FusionPro 5.8), please contact your CPM to discuss your eligibility in obtaining this serial number.
