Field values are read-only in JavaScript rules. In other words, you
can't "set" them to anything other than the actual values in your data
source. If you need to calculate something else, instead of trying to
make a "third field" to put the result into, just return the result from
your rule, and you can use the rule's value as a text variable, just
like a field value. (You can also create a rule with the same name as a
field, and the rule will override the field value when called out as a
text variable.)

As for resizing things in FusionPro, that kind of variable layout is
hard to do with Desktop. However, if you're using FusionPro Server, you
can use the DIF API to modify all aspects of the layout
programmatically. We actually offer a built-in Ad Resizing feature as
an add-on to Server.
