There is a current issue with the def and pdf files becoming extremely
bloated and causing FusionPro to "freeze" and crash. I have found this
problem to be directly related to the Inline Graphic Rule that comes with
FusionPro.
You do not have to actually have this rule applied to a text frame in a
template - just have an instance created in the rules editor.
I was able to validate this issue by simply creating a template with
one text box, adding an Inline Graphic Rule. The rule does not have to be
applied to the text box.
Open the Rules Editor - it is not necessary to edit the actual rule - just
hit OK.
Repeat these steps several times and watch the size of the def file grow.
Open the Rules Editor, hit OK.
Open the Rules Editor, hit OK.
Open the Rules Editor, hit OK.
It will take 2 or 3 times before the actual file size increases, but after
7 or 8 times of opening the Rules Editor and clicking the OK button the
def file will increase from under 100Kb to over 50 mb. The file size
actually doubles each time you close (after 3 or 4 cycles)
If you open the def file in a text editor you will notice that there are
characters being added in the lines of script that replace some of the
foreign language characters.
I have only been able to test this on 2 macs at our location so it may
not repeat on other systems, but it is a very frustrating and
expensive(time) bug/issue.
I have reported this to Printable, but have not heard back as to a fix.
You can create a workaround by editing the def file in a text editor and
removing the foreign language instructions/lines.
