One template that I have created contains a problem I do not know how to
adjust or fix without an extremely specific rule. The sentence contains
the date "October 31st." - with the ordinal part of the number (the "st")
being superscripted and a period being typed directly afterward. This line
wraps around to a second line when a variable name is placed within the
sentence. HOWEVER....when names of certain width spacing are placed within
this variable entry the line grows enough to move the period down to a
second line but not the ordinal part. I keep getting a entry that looks
like

.................................October 31st
. This is a continuing sentence......

I've tried placing a   into a rule for this date value but that still
breaks the period to another line and adds a space before it as well. It
seems to act as though the superscript part is a separate word and does
not connect the period to it as a sentence ender.

The only way to get around this was to compile the data file, look at the
output and create a rule (multiple if statements) checking for every name
that shows this oddity and adding a few extra spaces before the "31st."
forcing the entire entry to the second line.

............................................October
31st. This is a continuing sentence......

I've tried adjusting the widows setting, adding   and   characters,
adjusting the width of the text box, adjusting tracking, and nothing works
- at some point a name will be of enough length to push the period to a
second line by itself. I'd even be willing to attempt a sacrificial
offering if I could ever figure out what the program wants!!!

Is this a known issue with FusionPro? How can I correct this without
having to go through and look at each and every record and create a
mega-multiple if-else statement to correct it?

Working on a PC with Windows XP Pro (sp3) and FusionPro 4.2P1d with
FusionPro Server (same version). Have access to a Mac with Tiger OSX and
same version of FP, and the result is the same. The font that I'm using is
simply TimesNewRoman 11 point.
