I'm trying to do my first Fusion Pro VDP job, and it's not going
smoothly.

The job is 10,000 of a 2-sided sheet 8.5x11 sheet with bleeds. The
variable data is one number in one location on one side of the sheet.
I'd like to run it 2-up on a 12x18 sheet.

I was able to get Fusion Pro to create its final pdf, with the
numbering, imposition, and stacking correct, but I'd used a 2-page
pdf for the template, so it composed as a 10,000 page file,
alternating fronts and backs of the sheet. I want to run all of the
static side, flip and reload the paper, and then run all of the
variable side.

I split the template into two one-page pdfs. Now, I can run imposer
on the static side, but the "compose" is grayed out, so I can't get
the final pdf.

On the variable side, the composing is taking a v-e-r-y l-o-n-g time.
The two-page file composed in about 20 minutes or so. The one-page
version has taken about 6 hours so far, and is only about 25% done.

What silly, obvious, novice errors am I making?

TIA,
Steve

(BTW, this is on a WinTel machine, 3.4gig P4, 1 gig of ram, XPpro,
etc.)
