That red bar denotes that your text is running outside the boundry of your
text frame when your variables are being populated with content. (i.e. you
are viewing this in preview mode).

You will need to adjust your text settings, or apply some sort of
"CopyFitting" treatment to your text. This is done by selecting the
"Overflow" option to the TextFrame properties pallet and choosing the
appropriate attributes.
