Hello,

There are a couple of options in FusionPro that can assist you
specifically with the HP VDP workflow (both HP PPML and JLYT).

First, I recommend downloading and reviewing FusionPro HP VDP Workflow
document from our Knowledge Base at:

http://www.printable.com/support/kb

You will find this document in the "Digital Print Workflow Documents"
section.

A couple of points about the HP VDP workflow and FusionPro:

1) FusionPro supports mixed rich and SNAP text within the HP output
formats. If the text can be described in SNAP (integer-only pointsizes,
90-degree increment rotations, no underline, etc), we will output that
text element as SNAP. If not, we output as rich text. We will mix
rich/SNAP in a single job.

2) FusionPro can convert your PostScript Type 1, TTF, and OTF fonts to
the appropriate font file formats needed for loading on the HP DFE. We
output fonts in PFB format for JLYT and PFA format for HP PPML. The
FusionPro HP VDP Workflow document describes this process.

3) Remember that even though you may have 2 fonts called, for example,
"Arial", they are not necessarily the same font. This is an important
point that users often have issues with in this workflow. A font called
"Arial" that is already on the HP DFE may have completely different
character metrics and inter-character spacing (kerning) than the "Arial"
you are using on the desktop with FusionPro. Using the wrong font can
result in character collisions or extra spacing between characters when
RIP'd and printed. We recommend loading the fonts that FusionPro
outputs.

4) Copyfitting and SNAP can be achieved in the job if you are willing to
use integral point sizes. There is a setting on the "Advanced" tab of
the FusionPro Composition dialogue to force integral point sizes of all
variable text. If you use copyfitting and do not select this option,
you will very likely get non-SNAP non-integral point sizes. If you see
this text set in Courier on the RIP, this is typically because the font
that was called for this rich text was not present on the RIP. See the
HP FusionPro workflow document for additional information.

Hope this helps.
