FYI Employment Summit Background Papers The volume of background papers for the Employment Summit being held in Palmerston North on 30 March have just been published. They are a very comprehensive set which not only give the statistics on current employment in Palmerston North and the Manawatu and the trends in this, there is also a wealth of information to give body to the theme of the Summit " What can we do? - Possibilities and Potential." The papers cover ideas and initiatives in Palmerston North, elsewhere in the country and overseas, large and small. One of the aims of the Summit is to show that there are many answers to creating 'meaningful, sustainable, work and income opportunities', they happen at all levels in the community and there is plenty of room for each and every one of us to play a part, says Ian Ritchie, one of the organisers.
