> Our Economic System: Badly Designed?
> by Roberto Verzola*

>Follow the design rules, and you get a system that is robust and

>unreliable and crash-prone.

This is a good piece. If it were possible to "design" a global system,
Verzola is right: we could certainly design one that is better than the one
we have now.

I have a really great book on this subject

The Logic of Failure : Recognizing and Avoiding Error in Complex Situations
by Dietrich Dorner, Rita Kimber, Robert Kimber.

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0201479486

Synopsis
Many mistakes are the result of logic that fails to keep up with our modern
world, even though it was appropriate to older, simpler times. Working with
imagination and often hilarious computer simulations, Dietrich Dorner
provides a compass for intelligent planning and decision-making that can
sharpen the skills of managers and policy-makers everywhere.

I liked it. If you want to understand why the common folk can't make
policy, read this book.
