6th European Conference on the Social Economy, 3-5 June 1998
International Convention Centre, Birmingham

The UK will take centre stage in the social economy debate by hosting this
European Conference held during the UK presidency of the European Union.
The UK Social Economy Forum is organising in conjunction with CMAF, the
Consultative Committee on Co-operatives, Mutual Societies,
Associations/Foundations and with the support of DG XXIII of the European
Commission the 6th European Conference on the Social Economy, which will
build upon the achievements of the previous conferences held in Paris,
Rome, Lisbon, Brussels and Seville.

With speakers from the UK Government, European Commission, other
governments, academics and practitioners in the social economy, the
expected 800 delegates from Europe and the UK will take part in
discussions on the economics of the social economy, civil society and
employment issues.
