A local (Ottawa) company, Corel, would not mind seeing Microsoft kicked
right off the planet. It has been trying to do just that, but by all
appearances, has rather badly stubbed its toes in the process.

According to a recent Globe & Mail article "Corel Corp.'s spectacular
decline is accelerating ... Corel said yesterday that its preliminary
results show that it will lose $95-million (U.S.) in the quarter that ended
Nov. 30 because of weakening software sales ... For the second quarter in
a row, unexpectedly weak sales of its WordPerfect and CoreIDraw software
pushed it deep into the red, with this quarter's loss expected to amount to
$1.43 a share. Final results are to be released on Jan.13."

Perhaps this time round Goliath has slewn or slewed (or whatever the verb
is) David?
