then began my message.

You thought it referred to my immediate remarks - which, of course, you
denied.

I'm sorry I confused you.

I said the first thing to do to get rid of the Microsoft monopoly - and a
lot more - is to abolish the patent office. A patent is likely to turn a
$50 idea into a $50,000 privilege, by virtue of its ability to stop others
from doing similar things.
