Dear Douglas, I assume you know about the various Genuine Progress Indicators that have been proposed at various levels of the political hierarchy. They contain many components which are not strictly "economic" but which are essential reflections of the state of society. They also typically subtract expenditures on "bads" like crime fighting, fire fighting, removing graffiti, costs of divorce and disease, etc. If you need steering to such data, I can help some.
