Finlands new trade and industry
minister Mr Erkki Tuomioja said in
today's Helsingin Sanomat (our biggest
daily newspaper) that "Finland is, at
present, the only (or first [my comment])
EU country that has included a Tobin's
tax in its government's program. Finland
aims at finding models for implementing
controls on global financial flows".
This is a major issue, especially since
Finland will be chairing the EU beginning
this summer.
