How can we develop ways of improving and evaluating the manner in which
we deal with job creation issues? The First International Conference
WORK 2001 to be held in Johannesburg during 3 days in April 2001 will
focus on this emerging and important topic.

Not only will the conference provide a forum for interesting and
animated debates on the subject, but it will also set grounds for a
progressive foundation devoted exclusively to the employment generating
process in our field.

CALL FOR PAPERS

The Organising Committee of the Conference cordially invites you to
submit an abstract for the conference related to the main theme

"Employment Creation in Development"

or to one or more of the following sub-themes identified by the
Committee. The abstract should be no longer than 300 words, and should
be submitted before 31 May 2000.

ESSAY COMPETITION

The Organising Committee will reward a maximum of 3 best papers with a
prize comprising airfare or other transport, free attendance to the
Conference, and 3 nights accommodation in Johannesburg to a maximum
total value of US$2000.

All accepted and camera-ready papers will be entered in this
competition, and the official prize-giving ceremony shall take place
during the Conference.

CONFERENCE VENUE

This prestigious gathering will be hosted on the Campus of the
University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa from 2 to
5 April 2001. Further details about the exact date will be available
later this year. The University offers a full spectrum of meeting,
catering and function rooms and facilities in a relaxed and safe
environment.

Besides the Conference venue, South Africa boasts a wide variety of
professional and touristic opportunities. The Organising Committee will
offer various optional visits to construction sites and/or townships,
game-viewing tours and other interesting venues.

CONFERENCE FEES

A special fee structure will be available for professionals, full-time
students and one-day visitors. Through the essay competition a maximum
of 3 delegates will be fully sponsored. More information on fees will be

available on our website and in later announcements.
